The "Memorial Day" which was original called "Decoration Day" is very significant in America as a time to remember and honor those who served and died in the service of the United States of America. This day was officially proclaimed on the 5th of May, 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic and was first observed on May 30, 1868.

Coincidentally, the Memorial Day weekend has been adopted by Nkwerre Aborines Union, USA (NAU USA) as a time for members of this union to have their annual gathering. This is very important in the lives of the people of Nkwerre in Imo State, Nigeria because it is an opportunity to meet and embrace one another, share common goals, raise funds for the development of Nkwerre town as well as plan for the future of the organization. This weekend many of the citizens of Nkwerre will be heading to the windy city of Chicago for this annual convention of NAU USA under the leadership of their President, Dr Godwin Ngozi Nnadi, PE. Below is a message from the national President regarding this year's convention:

Umu Nkwerre Udo diri unu!

The 2012 Convention weekend is fast approaching, the NEC, the Convention Committee and Chicago Chapter are putting finishing touches; making sure no stone is left unturned. Those that are responsible for various segments of the convention are doing all they can with irrevocable enthusiasm and excitement. As we expect friends and families from all over the world; I am suggesting that at this point we should take our cares to God and request for travelling mercies, His divine guidance, wisdom and understanding to us.  The word of God says in Proverbs 3 vs.5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths".

I am requesting that members should include in their daily prayers and fasting the convention activities because our Lord Jesus Christ is the head of this occasion and with His presence as our Lord, nothing will ever go wrong because He is The God of Impossibilities.

Be blessed always.

Dr. Nnadi, P.E.

President

NAU-USA

May I use this opportunity to wish all members of NAU USA a safe journey and a successful 2012 national convention of NAU USA in Chicago, May 25-27.
